In 2004, As Manager of the Haworth Design Studio, I traveled to Multiple Haworth brands in Europe. We found that a number of products were unknown and unavailable in north America. I put together a vision document That would become the beginning of the ‘Haworth Collection’. It had three parts. First, bring existing products from our European brands to North America. Second, initiating projects for new products with established global designers, (Especially Jean-Marie Massaud, Patricia Urquiola, Naoto Fukasawa, etc.) Third, incorporate product designs from young North American Designers as a way to explore what would endure as ‘American Design’ 50 years from now.
Today the Haworth Collection (Now Haworth Lifestyle) has surpassed all of these aspirations with the relationships between Haworth and Cassina, Cappellini, Poltrona Frau, Zanotta, Janus et Cie, Buzzispace, Ceccotti, Interni, Luminaire, and most recently, Heller. The Products shown below represent the Haworth Collection in 2008. (The patterns pieces were not officially incorporated).
